2023.05.18 It may be that the famous Higgs boson, co-responsible for the existence of masses of elementary particles, also interacts with the world of the new physics that has been sought for decades. If this were indeed to be the case, the Higgs should decay in a characteristic way, involving exotic particles. At the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Cracow, it has been shown that if such decays do indeed occur, they will be observable in successors to the LHC currently being designed.
2023.05.17 The Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences has been placed in the forefront of Polish institutions on the list of the worldwide ranking of universities and selected scientific institutions – the Center for World University Ranking 2023 (CWUR 2023), announced on May 15 this year.
2023.04.19 A moment's hesitation... Yes, a full stop here – but shouldn’t there be a comma there? Or would a hyphen be better? Punctuation can be a nuisance; it is often simply neglected. Wrong! The most recent statistical analyses paint a different picture: punctuation seems to “grow out” of the foundations shared by all the (examined) languages, and its features are far from trivial.
2023.04.11 On April 4-5, a 14-person delegation from the Laboratory of the Physics of the two Infinities Irène Joliot-Curie (IJCLab), located in Orsay near Paris, visited our Institute.
2023.03.08 They kill with a molecular sting or oxidative shock and don’t know the meaning of fatigue. The latest biocidal nanocomposites, designed and synthesised by scientists at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IPJ PAN) in Cracow, are charting new directions for materials engineering in the fight against microorganisms.
