TA Instruments DSC 2500 is the heat-flux type differential scanning calorimeter equipped with liquid nitrogen cooling system. The device allows to measure temperatures and heat flows associated with phase transitions in studied materials. Difference in temperature between the sample and the reference material is measured while both are subjected to the same temperature program. The heat capacity of the sample can be obtained by detecting the energy input into the sample and the reference. It is possible to perform temperature-modulated differential scanning calorimetry experiments allowing efficient separation of complex thermal events. It is useful for studying endothermic and exothermic phenomena (such as transitions, chemical reactions, adsorption, etc.). The required mass of a sample is of order of mg.

The DSC 2500 system allows to study kinetics, chemical and thermal stability, perform phase analysis, enabling to determine enthalpy and temperatures of observed phase transitions. The systems can be used to study processes such as: melting, crystallization, vaporization, glass transitions, dehydration, isomerization, decomposition, etc.
