The "Big Science & Nomaten Innovation Day" is another event in a series aimed at fostering relationships between representatives of industry and science. Following the "Big Science Business Forum 2024" (BSBF 2024) event in Trieste in October, we met again on November 19, 2024, at the National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Świerk. This was another meeting of industrial and scientific communities, to which the Henry Niewodniczanski Institute of Nuclear Physics in Krakow (IFJ PAN) sent its delegation.
Research institutions and companies from the Research & Development sector were represented by more than 80 specialists. Representatives from IFJ PAN took this opportunity to strengthen relationships with entrepreneurs and specialists from allied companies and institutions, as well as to establish new contacts. It was also an opportunity to visit the Nomaten Laboratory at NCBJ, which conducts research in the field of materials engineering.
Representatives from well-known research infrastructures, including Joshua Davison from CERN, Daval Mehdi from Fusion for Energy within the ITER organization, Antonio Bonucci from the European XFEL, and Charlotte Rafsten from the European Spallation Source (ESS), shared their experiences and outlined the standards of contemporary practices and strategies related to order fulfillment, research projects, and innovative activities in the area of research and development.
IFJ PAN enjoys recognition among representatives of these large research infrastructures, which is a result of years of collaboration in their construction and the high level of professionalism demonstrated by IFJ PAN employees. This serves as a positive testament to our offerings and the potential created by collaboration with our engineering and technical staff.
Representatives from companies, including Artur Zeh from Format sp. z o.o., Marcin Orzechowski from Bimo Tech, and Tomasz Rak from EGKeen Vacuum Technology Sp. z o.o., shared their experiences related to cooperation with the international scientific community. The conclusions and recommendations arising from their collaboration with large research centers will facilitate future entry into this attractive market.
The conference culminated in a series of B2S meetings, which allowed Polish entrepreneurs to engage in individual dialogue with representatives of the showcased infrastructures and international organizations. These interactions created opportunities for establishing lasting collaborations aimed at further development and innovation in the fields of scientific and technological research.
